FAST Defense

Many clients, of various demographics, come to me wanting self-defense training. They want to know how to deal with every situation that they may encounter in every day life. From a low level aggressive confrontation over a parking space all the way up to serious life threatening situations. 

They want all the answers to each of these scenarios. And I feel a real responsibility and heavy sense of obligation to them to give credible training that will stand up to the pressure of reality.

Just as someone can be traumatized and conditioned to freeze for years or decades after just one bad experience, I'll engineer a positive experience in a very short time, which provides conditioning to control and even use the fear and adrenaline rush that inevitably occurs in any intense situation. With FAST Defense, this can be consistently done in just hours for people of all types with 100% success!

To be effective under pressure, this training must address three areas:

the body - physical skills which must be easily performed under a variety of conditions;
the mind - develop an unstoppable mindset with true core confidence;
the emotions - develop awareness of the effects of fear and adrenaline on our performance and what we can do to continue to work with these effects.

Why Adrenal Stress Training?

A person's experience of adrenaline stress, as well as his or her response to it, is unique to that person. A situation that sends one persons heart rate soaring, causing them to shut down (freeze), may raise another persons heart rate only gradually. However, we all experience it in one way or another.
     Very simplistically when you perceive a threat - anything from a low level argument to a full-on life or death situation - the body releases adrenaline. As part of the fight and flight mechanism, blood is diverted to the major muscle groups. One of the areas that loses its normal blood flow is the brain. So you revert to a more primitive, emotional area.
     Have you ever experienced that feeling after an argument that 'if you'd only said THAT, you'd have won'? This is an effect of you coming out of the 'low road' of the brain, back into your 'high road'.
     When you are in this low road, your brain does not problem solve in it's normal, rational, constructive way. It basis nearly all responses on previous experiences. So an aggressive person will very likely use an aggressive response. A passive person will likely react passively.
     The FAST Defense method of adrenal stress training allows people to accumulate positive, assertive outcomes to stressful scenarios to re-engineer negative behaviours. Let me be your guide on this journey to self discovery and empowerment!

FAST (Fear Adrenal Stress Training) Defense

The FAST Defense (Fear Adrenal Stress Training) method represents the very latest technology available to train and empower people of all ages to defend themselves and take full control of their lives! (Please go the bottom of this page and click on the links to learn more about about this method of training and why it is so important!)

Students learn the following techniques:

Awareness skills that allow you to detect a potential threat before it occurs!
How to avoid being picked out as an easy victim. (Interviews with convicted felons show that attackers search for specific body language in their victims. Learn how to carry yourself so that assailants will not single you out!)

What to do in a worse case scenario should you find yourself physically attacked. You will learn simple and effective strikes to vulnerable areas on the attacker’s body and practice them live while in the Adrenal Fear response mode.

FAST Defense Class Schedule

2 Important notes:

#1 - Due to the nature of the content* these classes are for adults only or teenagers 16 - 18 with parents permission! (*There will be profanity and language that may be personally offensive to some people that is used in the context of the material presented.)

#2 - Effective June 1, 2011 you MUST pre-register ! (Pre-payment will still be optional for a while) Pre-Registration can be done by sending an e-mail directly to Coach Arnold below, responding on the Facebook event, or calling directly at 859.486.3535. Please see the schedule of dates and times below for FAST Defense classes at Top Flight Gymnastics. Please arrive at least 10-15 minutes early, dressed in comfortable street or workout attire. (No hard soled shoes please) Cost is $40 per person payable at the door during sign in, or you can pre-register using the secure link below. Please e-mail me for registration as the class size is limited to 16. Note: Classes are held once a quarter.

     If these dates are not convenient and you are interested in me coming to your space or facility please call to discuss the arrangements. FAST Defense is best done in a group class format. This would be anywhere from six to twenty people. This obviously requires a larger space than most anyone has in their home. IMPORTANT: Classes that I have done in the past have been in community centers, public and private school classrooms and gymnasiums, workout studios, fellowship halls, civic group spaces, church facilities, basements, backyards, public parks, business meeting rooms, banquet rooms, etc. I usually like to seek a recommendation from you, that is convenient to you. (i.e. a suggestion).
